Lifelong car guys Sung Kang and Larry Chen are bringing the spirit of Daikoku PA to Sonoma Raceway for a one-of-a-kind Friday night meet. Bring your ride, or just revel in the atmosphere.
HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING FRIDAY AT VELOCITY
Velocity Invitational kicks off 9AM Friday with an incredibly diverse cross section of car culture, motorsport, and displays.
Come for the day and you’ll experience over a century of motorsport and performance both on track and in the paddock. You’ll see everything from historic racing Ferraris, Porsches, Datsuns, and BMWs to the latest hypercars from Bugatti, Pagani, and more. Car culture displays feature lowriders, rock crawlers, and classics from all eras. Velocity Invitational’s legendary wine country hospitality brings some of California’s best food and wine to the event, too.
DRIFTER and Fast & Furious star and diehard car guy Sung Kang will be on hand Friday to meet fans and hand out DRIFTER posters — plus, he’ll be sharing Northern California’s debut preview screening of DRIFTER followed by an interactive Q&A. Formula Drift champion Dai Yoshihara will be on hand as well to do demo drift runs in Lola, Sung’s AE86 Trueno drift car and the mechanical co-star of DRIFTER.
As the lights go down, Sung and car photography legend Larry Chen turn the front straight of Sonoma Raceway into an incredible Friday Night Meet under the raceway spotlights from 6PM-9PM. Got an awesome ride? Enter it to be displayed under the lights at Sonoma Raceway’s hot pits.

WATCH LOLA DRIFT AT SONOMA
Sung is bringing Lola, his built AE86 Trueno drift car and DRIFTER co-star to Velocity Invitational. Formula DRIFT and champion and stunt driver Dai Yoshihara will be showing just what Lola can do.
Lola will be on display during the day Friday in the Velocity Invitational paddock. On-track demonstrations will be held Friday evening after the end of the day’s on-track racing activities.
MEET SUNG KANG AT VELOCITY INVITATIONAL
Sung will be on hand at Velocity Invitational Friday to meet fans and do a first-in-Norcal preview of his upcoming feature length film DRIFTER, followed by a Q&A session.
In a forgotten desert town, a solitary racetrack janitor with a gift for drifting is haunted by his tragic past. Given a single chance to compete at a pro drifting event, he discovers his raw talent is useless without the one thing he's always avoided: connection with others. Under a hardened mentor, he must learn to trust his found family and transform his untamed, lonely art into a dangerous dance of partnership, or be consumed and controlled by the past he's desperate to escape.
